Steyning Society’s Curry & Quiz Evening
Around 50 people came to pit their wits against each other at a Curry & Quiz Evening, organised by the Steyning Society on 12 July. Keeping matters light-hearted, Canon Nigel Hartley acted as the quiz master, with his warm and friendly approach helping to ensure a fun evening for all.
With wide ranging and often challenging questions facing the 7 teams, the quiz required everyone to delve deep into their knowledge and memory. Subjects covered included classical music and pop, politics, gardening, TV, food, current and local affairs and plenty more. The curry, put together by professional caterer SuperDoux, Brighton, was truly delicious.
The Steyning Society is a social group with a serious intent, aiming to encourage people to meet and take an interest in local affairs. As part of this, the Society is keen to support local organisations in Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding and also to recognise the dedication shown by many of their inhabitants. The Society therefore looks to raise funds to enable it to make grants for local projects with a view to maintaining and improving the amenities of Steyning and the immediate area. The Quiz & Curry evening formed part of the Society’s fundraising activities and £470 was raised.
